Hyperhidrosis (sweatiness) is abnormally severe and excessive sweatiness of the underarms, forehead, and hands that is unrelated to heat or exercise. It is basically an overreaction of the sweat glands. It can be triggered by medical conditions or anxiety, but sometimes even odors or foods can cause a reaction. Some people who experience hyperhidrosis will sweat through their clothing. In 2009, Shapero Dermatology was one of the first dermatology centres in Canada to introduce the use of Botox for people suffering from hyperhidrosis and for a number of years, was one of the largest centres for hyperhidrosis in Canada.
Our Treatments
The minimization of discomfort has always been most important to us, with the use of very thin (fine gauge) needles especially imported from the United States, and the use of ice and dynamic vibration for the hands.
Sweat mapping is done before every underarm procedure to outline the area of sweatiness so that unnecessary areas are not treated, and so that the dosage can be minimalized.
There are several treatments available for hyperhidrosis including:
Highly concentrated topical aluminum chloride, and the gold standard, injectable botulinum toxoid.
Consultation for hyperhidrosis is free (covered by OHIP) and the treatment of hyperhidrosis is often largely covered by third-party insurance.
We offer several types of injectable products that help smooth wrinkles…
